Christmas Eve for Young and Older
Wednesday 10 December
Young and older, we welcome you into the Waiapu Cathedral to celebrate Christmas Eve!
We welcome families to bring their children (and perhaps the grandparents) to our family Christmas play from 6.00-7.00pm.
Your children might have fun dressing up (so can the adults!) and taking part in this fun, interactive play about the Christmas story. Come as an angel, shepherd, king or even a sheep? … or just come just as yourself. There’ll be treats, carols sung by our lovely Young People’s Choir and lots of fun under the Christmas star.
Hopefully there will be even more stars to enjoy emerging from our special Midnight Mass service starting at 11.00pm.
Candles, choir and the eucharist make for a special time at the end of our waiting for the Christmas morning and our celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The choir will be singing James Whitbourn’s Missa Carolae setting full of old familiar tunes, with the organ. The service ends just after midnight when you can wish each other “Merry Christmas”.
Both events – all ages, all welcome, FREE
