Wonderful Worship at Combined Pentecost Service

Monday 20 May

We were blessed by the many people from across Napier who came to the Cathedral on Sunday evening 19 May for a combined churches prayer and worship Pentecost Sunday service. This was a happy, encouraging and uplifting service with the Cathedral at capacity with between 400-500 worshippers.

The worship team provided uplifting songs to support a very gentle, spirit- moved service. We were able to sing together and pray for our city, for our region, and for unity between our churches.

Sam Harvey, Bay Vineyard’s pastor, gave an encouraging sermon about unity and the Holy Spirit reviving the church.  The service culminated 10 days of prayer for our region with a 24/7 prayer room at Engage Church in Pirimai, where groups and individuals from many churches gathered in prayer.

People enjoyed worshiping in the Cathedral on a site that has hosted worship for over 100 years; many people were in our space for the first time and asking to do this again!

A big thank you to all who came to worship – we hope you were as blessed as the Cathedral parishioners were.  And we look forward to seeing you again, especially to hear our wonderful organ in action!
