Children's Manger Service, 6pm Christmas Eve 24 December

7 December 2022

A service specially for children and their families to find out more about and celebrate the joy of Christmas.

The Children’s Manger service at Waiapu Cathedral is by children for children.  Watch a manger play performed by the Cathedral young people, and find out more about the special story of that first Christmas Day when Jesus was born.

Join in making Christingles that will be lit in celebration. As our own Rev’d Jenny Chalmers explained Christingles one Sunday recently: “Think sweets!”  Christingles are oranges wrapped in red ribbon, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on the top.  Fun to make, delicious to enjoy and with symbolic meaning which children and their families can bring into their own understanding of the significance of Christmas.

And yes! There is a Christmas tree in the Cathedral, and there will be candles and music to make this a special service for children.

Followed by the Midnight Mass service at 11pm.

All ages – ESPECIALLY CHILDREN!!  $ FREE
