We’re very sociable and enjoy exploring new pathways and our wonderful Hawke’s Bay outdoors!

Notices

THE PARISH AGM IS TO BE HELD IN THE CATHEDRAL AT 11.30am ON SUNDAY 22 MARCH

Purpose of the meeting is to:

  • Receive various reports on the life of the Cathedral parish.

The Reports Book for the AGM (which includes the Agenda) is currently being prepared and will be available before the meeting here on the website and in printed form.

  • Adopt the budget which has been approved by Vestry.
  • Election of Vestry members (not less than three nor more than ten baptised parishioners, clergy or lay, whose names are listed on the Electoral Roll).
  • Election of the People’s Warden.
  • Announcement of the appointment of the Bishop’s Warden.

Nominations for Vestry Members and People’s Warden must be handed in by noon of Sunday 15 March 2026.  Nomination forms are available from the back of the Cathedral or the Parish Office.

Only those who are listed on the parish Electoral Roll may stand for office, propose and second a nomination, and vote at the AGM.

The Electoral Roll is a separate roll from the bigger, pastoral roll, and consists of those who are regularly “part of the life and worship of the parish” and so are able to take decisions.  If you are interested in being nominated for Vestry you might talk to a current Vestry member about what is involved.  Being a Warden or Vestry member means having a clear Police Vet and undertaking the diocesan Safeguarding training.

Greet Our Cruise Ship Visitors 2025/26!

Cruise ship season continues until April.  If you’d like to be part of our hosting ministry for these visitors, please check the rosters on the board at the back of the cathedral and add your name where there’s a space that suits you.  Please contact Charlene in the office if you need a copy for your diary.

Scanning and transcription volunteers for Diocesan Registers
Do you have time in a day, morning, or afternoon to spare?
A small team is scanning and transcribing our Baptism, Marriage, and Burial registers to preserve our history. You would be given training to use the scanner in the Diocesan Office in Raffles Street Napier. If you are confident using an excel spreadsheet and are used to reading cursive writing we would appreciate your time to transcribe the registers.  Please contact Jenny Cawston 027 4352947 or Jillian King 021 2034387 for further information if you are interested.
