Our Team
The Very Reverend Ruihana Paenga is our Dean, installed in August 2026. She leads the management and ministry within the cathedral and its parish. See our post New Dean to be Installed at Waiapu Cathedral, 1 August.
Our Parish Administrator – Charlene van Eeden manages the admin side of things in the office, Mon-Fri mornings, and can be contacted on 06 835 8824 or 021 754 161, or admin.cathedral@waiapu.com.
Director of Music is Anthony Tattersall who is in charge of anything and everything to do with the music in the Cathedral. Anthony can be contacted on 027 300 1163 or via the Parish Administrator.
LEADERSHIP
The Cathedral has two oversight bodies, the Chapter and the Vestry.
- The Cathedral Chapter is the ordained ministers who are concerned with the Diocesan and community-facing ministries.
- The Vestry is responsible for the parish ministry and day-to-day running of the Cathedral.
The parish Earthquake Strengthening Committee was disbanded at the 2025 AGM and that work was transferred to the responsibility of the Waiapu Board of Diocesan Trustees.
