Choral Sing-in Back Again!

Wednesday 6 July 2022

Do you love to sing? Come and sing in our beautiful Cathedral on Saturday July 16.

The Waiapu Cathedral’s annual Sing-in is on again (after a necessary covid break in 2021)!   The choir will rehearse Vivaldi’s Gloria plus anthems by Mozart, Haydn and Handel from 1pm and then perform in concert at 4.15pm.

“Anyone who can read music and wants to sing with a choir is very welcome,” says coordinator and Cathedral Choir singer Raewyn Towers.

“It’s amazing how the music comes together with people from different choirs and singing backgrounds who don’t normally sing together.  It’s always fun to sing with other people and we’d love to have high school choir students join us and try something new while they are on holiday!”

Anthony Tattersall, Director of Music at the Cathedral, will conduct the choir and the rehearsal organist is Michael Fletcher from Wellington. This terrific team have run successful Sing-in events in 2019 and 2020.  They are inspiring musicians – and fun to work with, too!

How will the Sing-in work?

The rehearsal starts on Saturday 16 July at 1pm.  Singers will be given music scores to use (borrow), and we will rehearse the music for a couple of hours.  After a sociable afternoon tea, they’ll perform a concert for family and friends, accompanied by the Cathedral Strings.

Singers are asked to register in advance if possible (email or phone 021 633 567). The cost is $20 for adults, $5 for students.

Audiences are invited to the concert will start at 4:15pm – adults $10, students and children free.

Let’s sing together again!
